Farr Rising Pinot Noir
Wine
By Farr Farr Rising Pinot Noir is the distinct label of Nick Farr, son of winery founder Gary Farr. The grapes grow on an exposed and hungry Moorabool Valley slope.
Half the handpicked fruit is destemmed and cold soaked, the remainder left as whole bunches. Wild fermentation takes place in open top fermenters. The wine is gravity fed to French oak barrels.
The barrels are stirred to trigger malolactic fermentation. Once complete the wine is racked and matured in barrel for 18 months. It is racked once more just prior to bottling.
Dark crimson, By Farr Farr Rising Pinot Noir has both sweetness and mineral characters and a long, savoury finish. Cellaring potential is seven years.
